To celebrate my daughter’s 4th birthday, we had a Mother and Daughter Tea Party. We invited five of her friends and their moms. We started off the party by decorating tea hats for the girls with ribbons, flowers, and feathers. I can’t remember where I ordered my hats from, but you can buy a hat and glove set here. Each girl also got a pair of gloves and a necklace. You can get necklaces here.
We then took photos of the girls wearing their hats they had just decorated.
We then played bingo and the girls got a candy bracelet and sixlets for their prizes for winning. I used this free template here.
Then the tea was served. I had found four little teapots just the girls’ size for them to pour at Home Goods. We used the tea set that my husband’s grandma had painted for us and gave to us for our wedding. We filled the little tea pots with apple juice. I filled a big tea pot with a cold raspberry herbal tea. We also let them choose if they wanted a hot herbal tea.
My son and husband were are servers. The boys served fruit skewers with pineapple, strawberries, and grapes. Then there was cheese and olives and crackers. I bought brie cheese for the moms and they loved it. Next were the sandwiches. There was pb&j, cucumber and cream cheese, and chicken salad on croissants.

Cucumber Tea Sandwiches
Makes 24 sandwiches
2 English Cucumbers (I peeled mine but you don’t have to) 12 slices white sandwich bread
6 ounces cream cheese
1 tablespoons finely chopped fresh dill, optional
Spread a layer of cream cheese on a slice of bread. Sprinkle with dill and then add thinly sliced cucumbers. Place other piece of bread on top. Cut the crust off of the bread and then slice sandwich into triangle quarters.
Chicken Salad Sandwiches
2 cups chicken breast cooked and chopped
1/2 cup diced celery
1/3 cup diced green onion
1/3 cup chopped red grapes
1/4 cup mayonnaise with olive oil
1/4 cup Greek Yogurt
1/4 cup sliced almonds, optional
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix all above ingredients together. Cut Croissants in half and place generous amount of chicken salad on and top with piece of lettuce and sliced tomatoes.
Pink Ombre Swirl Cake
-Two Cake Mixes prepared according to package instructions – this will be four round cakes
-Round cake pans (I used 8”)
-8 cups powdered sugar
-2 cup softened butter
-2 tsp vanilla
-Piping bag –
#21 Wilton tip (or a moderate sized open star tip)
8 cups powdered sugar
2 cup softened butter
2 tsp vanilla
Mix ingredients together and then add your food coloring to the frosting. Frost the top third of cake with the light color frosting. To frost, put frosting in piping bag and then make the swirls by starting in the middle and swirling outward about 4 rotations. Then add more food coloring to darken the color. Frost the middle third of cake. Then add more food coloring and frost the bottom portion of the cake.
I designed the invites by mixing and matching some free scrapbook kits I already had on my computer.
The party was really magical and I think the moms enjoyed it as much as the girls. I hope these tips help as you plan your own tea party!
